Oh, happy day!
Liverpool outshone Real Madrid in a 4-0 demolition in the UCL match-up round of 16. While I'm totally delirious by that hefty scoreline (I know, I know, nothing compared to that Bayern v Sporting Lisbon scoreline 12-1 aggregate), but I kinda empathised with Real. Hello!?! We're talking about Real Madrid here, one of the footballing giants in La Liga. I felt especially sad seeing Raul struggling to get a goal. I missed the old Raul, just like I missed the old Owen. Strikers, especially when they're known for speed, have a pretty limited shelf-life. And judging from this match, I guess Raul's approaching what I'd call the "sunset" period in a striker's life, heart-wrenching... especially when it involves your favorite strikers.
Ok ok emo stuff aside, I'm still crazy over our performance! Let's hope we'll carry this momentum over to the upcoming showdown with Man(U)re this Saturday.
I know a lot of Real fans are pissed off by the controversial decision made by the ref, involving a supposed handball when it really only touched Heinze's shoulder. I agree it's NOT a handball, but as I've always said, modern football's marred by bad refereeing, and Real's not the only victims, Liverpool has suffered from some really bad decisions too, some of which I'd rather forget. Even without that decision going our way, Liverpool pretty much dominated the entire game, hence my point is we'd still win the match with or without it. Just look at our line-up which pretty much has "ATTACK! ATTACK! ATTACK!" written all over it. How long has it been since we've seen a Liverpool that goes all out on the offensive? Totally liberating to watch man!
The most pek cek thing's gotta be when Heinze kept arrowing and tackling Torres mindlessly after that controversy, he's totally venting his anger on Torres for that ref's mistake lor! Walao! I was waiting for Heinze to get a second yellow and get sent off, but that didn't happen, guess that's the ref's way for making amendments. But yeah, Heinze's definitely on my blacklist! >:(
The most hilarious part was even Dossena joined in the scoring bandwagon, hahaha even Dossena made it past Casillas lor! Dossena came in for Torres, then shortly after he picked up a yellow card, and shortly after that, he went on to get the final goal of the night. Hahaha one helluva busy man leh Dossena. Oh yeah, I still can't get used to Lucas' new hairdo, he's not him without the long, unruly hair plus Spanish headband do la!
And and Jay Spearing made his debut for Liverpool! Read up on his profile, and this newbie despite his small stature, packs quite some liao one leh! Will be looking out for him in future matches! Hmm but what are the chances of that happening in the near future? Rafa's not Wenger. If he doesn't rotate that much can tou xiao already. Lol.
Really disappointed with Real Madrid, attack's minimal, defense non-existent. Zzz. Their Pepe could've done better, I remembered his uncanny intercepting and blocking ability in the previous World Cup lor! Didn't see any of that this time. :( A bit sad. Then I was reading some forum and one person commented it would've been a massacre if it was Dudek and Casilas who made the starting line-up. Lolol. Dudek was a Liverpool keeper so I won't say too much about our old boy, he makes some stupid mistakes but he was our hero back in Istanbul '05 UCL final!!!
My favorite goals are: The first goal by Torres! Shows great communication between Torres and Stevie G!!! Aargh best partnership! And topping it all off, the finishing's the icing on the cake. And and Gerrard's second goal! Sourcing from a superb cross by Babel, Stevie G fired a blazing volley into the roof of the net. I love love LOVE this kinda goal!!! If not for Casillas, I think the scoreline would've been crazier.
Standing ovation to Liverpool!!! You'll Never Walk Alone~ C:
My two favorite men of the night...

Another happy thing's... Smelly's heading for Perth 22nd May to 27th May, surprise visit for my cousin. Lol.
Ok ok before Smelly's off to bed, I'm gonna SIC something really good with you guys! Here's a blogshop which sells football posters! But I only see Liverpool and Man(U)re posters though. Haha, here goes: http://flyingwith-football.blogspot.com/
The dimension should be 60x90 instead of the 600x900cm listed, otherwise one wall wouldn't be enough to contain the poster already.
