Shucks. Yeah yesterday on my way to work, I saw this guy distributing pamphlets to passers-by. Okay so he's just a usual pamphlet guy. To my surprise, I actually saw the PAP logo on one of the pamphlets!!! Golly. Political advertising? Propoganda? Hmmm, shan't say more otherwise ...Yikes!

Hoorahs! I bought this huge pack of fishy kerepok from the office yesterday. No no there's isn't any tidbits shop in our office. You see, every fortnight, there's this kerepok uncle who goes to every level of the entire office building to sell his kerepok. And he carries so many HUGE bags of many many kinds of crackers, and he pulls his trolley along. So whenever he comes, he'd open the door and shout with that crackery voice o his in mandarin " Kerepok!!! Mai kerepok! Gan kuai lai mai!" (Crackers! Come get crackers!! Yummy yummy crackers)

Haha and this always amuses everyone in the office. It sorta lightens up your stress level? Especially when ya rushing a deadline. LOL. And Yee Lin actually helps the uncle to sell some pkts, well, cuz we're the ones who bought it. LOL.

Wooh. Yesterday did OT till 7 pm rather unwillingly. Haha I'd wanted to take leave on Friday so I'll have altogether 4 days of rest! Well, it seems that many of my colleagues think so too, so I can't take leave otherwise the remaining pple will hafta overwork themselves. LOL. Ya I know I'm good. *puking in the background* Hey hey hey!

Had lunch with Uncle Kelvin yesterday along with Shirley, Yee Lin and Ziqin (she loves drawing and reading manga too!!!) at LJS. Haha it was our first time eating together and it was really fun. Though we somethimes feel that Uncle Kelvin is a lil overfriendly?? LOL. I dunno.

Oh yeah I did something new yesterday! Other than keying in data that is. It's called 'fishing'. We 'fish' literally, they give us a list of names and the cards that these people(troublesome) applied for, and we gotta 'fish' for them through humongous stacks after stacks after stacks of data. It's really back-breaking and brains-intensive kinda work. LOL. But the satisfaction you get when ya finally found one is simply amazing, it's like you hit the jackpot or sumthing ye know? Haha, it was pretty fun working with Ziqin. Oh yeah and I even found out Vilist is her sec sch friend! Haha now I totally believe the 6 degree network ( you know this network where we know somebody through somebody we know?? So there's this possibility you might actually be related to Taufik? Or JJ Lin? Isn't it cool? Hah.)

Hmmm. I heard Darth Vader's gonna interview pple yesterday. It's a lil unnerving cuz there aren't many computers in the office, so it means some of us gotta be sacked to make way fer them. As temps, I think we're in a pretty precarious situation. I heard he's gonna sack Tiff and Sherrine? Details anyone? LOL. I guess the only advantage we have over some of the other temps is the fact that we're willing to work OT most of the time. Haha, anyhow, I dun wanna be sacked!!! LOL. Man, I really love this job!

Haha oh well, enjoy the hols mates! Goin cycling on Monday! Swimming tomorrow! Ice skating today?? Haha sports=fun! I still wanna have lunch with Shimmy and Xinyi! *sighs*

Woohoo finally got the FULL set of Dae Jang Geum a.k.a Jewel in the Palace! Haha though the english subtitles are really disappointing. Now I'm watchin Narnia, it's really inspiring, something like Lord of the Rings.

There're a couple of movies that I really really wanna watch. Poseidon and The Da Vinci Code! Haha...can't believe I actually missed V for Vendetta, cuz they received raving reviews from movie critics all over. Hmm not forgetting MI3 too!

Wooh a really darn thrilling soccer match will be coming up later, Barca VS AC Milan. I can't miss this!!! Hmmm come June there'll be the long awaited World Cup, and there's the Singapore Yoyo competition too! Haha...one of the guest judges in particular is none other than ******. Haha I promised him it'll be a secret.

Work today is a little heavier than yesterday thank God I finished in time! Phew. I'd rather have tons of stuff( ok maybe not) to do, I guess I don't really like to laze around, haiz if only I thought like that when I was schooling.

Hmmm..oh well...till next time!

Monday, April 24, 2006 , 9:24 PM

Today was helluva tough day. Why? Well, cuz the workload wasn't evenly distributed across the entire day. So I ended up having to slack throughout the first half of the day( before lunch) and rushing against time to complete my work at the second half( after lunch) of the day. It isn't that I don't enjoy slacking around in the office, reading my book and chatting with Ziqin, but imagine having to do this while Darth Vader (he's the boss) is prowling ard the premises. It just feels so darn uncomfortable, like you're doing something illegal though it really isn't? Haha.
To make matters worse, just when I needed time to be on my side since I gotta complete 100 Tiger Airways Visa forms, that darn system was so freaking slow! Alas, it hanged. Not once folks, but twice! I even managed to finish like 60 pgs of my book? LOL. Seriously, I really think they should like declare the 24th of April PowerLender System Down Day. Darth Vader asked me to go to the office ta talk about some stuff, my stomach did a double take when I heard that. If ya gonna see the Boss, it can only le on two extremes, either you did really bad or you dd exceptionally well. Well, as it turned out, it was kinda both I guess. He said that my speed was really good and commented how focused and diligent I was( really? Hey it's been 18 yrs and I didn't think I'd ever fit this description!). Then came the not-so-good news... Well, I wasn't sacked if that's what ya thinking. Haha. He pointed out the errors to me and said I could improve on them, to bring both speed & accuracy to an optimum balance. LOL.
Then we sorta engaged in a lil chat. He asked me what course I had opted for in Uni, and I told him Psychology, thing is I left out the fact that I should have gotten an admission letter by now IF i was successful, at this rate I dun think it's ever gonna happen. So he suggested that maybe I could do like a field study in the office, do a character profiling of my colleagues. Character profiling? Nice try. Was that his idea of a joke? Hah beats me. But I learned a lil something bout Darth Vader, beneath his tough and should I say stoic exterior, deep within, he's still human after all. He told me that he went to seek help from a psychologist in 2001 when he felt really stressed and stuff, and went on about how it helps thru breathing excercises, how oxygen goes to your brain n every other organ in ya body. Hmmm... after bout 5 or 10 mins, I was eventually 'released'. Well, after this conversation, I dun really dislike him as much. Hmmm will continue to put him under probation.
The people in our office are really nice and friendly. Though there's this girl called Nur who's kinda chatty, she's always talking about new recipes, and discussed about how sweet or not-so-sweet a particular cake is, it doesn't really help to ease our hunger, at all. Then there's this lady Joyce, she's a lil paranoid and ll always ask you how many errors she made and stuff, it's as if she's worried that pple might sabo her by faking the no. of errors she made ( which happens to be a lot on a bad day). Hmmm, there're MANY ah peks in my office, there're 2 who're really cute! One looks uber dorky, ad the other..hmmm looks really grandfatherly and always come to the table opp me to discuss bout work( not forgetting gossip) in Cantonese.
Haha, the office is an interesting place to be in. There're all kinds of pple in ere. This is the best place to see grown women giggle and ahem flirt ard like they were back in the good old days. Haha. Hey and you think that only the ladies gossip, you're in fer a rude shock. Step inside, and ya can see grown and elderly man alike gossiping abouth this colleague and that colleague. LOL. Who ever says that the office is a borin place should really come join us. We even have the occassional party to celebrate monthly birthdays, where there's FREE food! YUMMY!
I really love the FREE vending machine ere too! All you hafta do is punch in a code 33** and viola! An endless supply of free drinks. Kudos to this!!!
Wooh. Anyway, tough day or not-so-tough day, it's fine cuz I get to recharge my batteries after a night's rest. But sometimes I feel like a clockwork machine, operating under the same routine day in day out. It does get to me sometimes, can you imagine how mundane our lives really are!?! Hence I've compiled a list of things I wanna do before I grow old and 'tamed' by reality.
  1. Sky diving (tandem diving so I'm attached to a pro)
  2. Whitewater rafting
  3. Create something of my own (haven't decide what it's gonna be)
  4. Globe trotting
  5. Learn a new language

Well, it isn't much but it's a start, isn't it?

Overall, I guess today wasn't tt bad after all since Liverpool won against Chelsea!!! Haha, get well soon Shirl! Come back tml and eat something decadent! Shim jiayou for QET! Ya can do it, it's in you all u gotta do is tap into ya potential yeah?
